Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association

Director Of Missions

Dear Pastors and Friends,

This Summer of 2010 is full of opportunities to spread the Gospel in the mission field of Southern California!  As always, your LASBA office is committed to helping you meet your church’s ministry goals.

2010 SBC Annual Convention
A great deal was accomplished at this year’s Annual Convention, including the election of a new president- Bryant Wright. The Southern Baptist Convention reaffirmed the importance of focusing on the evangelization of large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles.  I am happy to report that LASBA is at the forefront in modeling outreach in one of the country’s largest megalopolises.

COMMUNITY MINISTRY
In accordance with Proverbs 14:31, the mission of the Community Ministry at LASBA continues to be that of providing consultation, resources, training, and funding to assist LASBA churches in developing ministries that reach out to the local community in the love of Jesus Christ.
We are currently involved in many activities including: ESL Training, Foster Parenting, Children’s Hunger Fund, Probation ministry, Haiti aid, Disaster Relief, Servant Evangelism, Block Parties, and Treasure Box.  LASBA recently enlisted At- Risk-Youth volunteers to help with a block party and 62 chaperoned Alabama Youth Choir members connected with the Southern Youth Correctional Facility in Norwalk
